I am from the very small town of Schulenburg, Texas. My family is very important to me. I enjoy going home whenever I can to visit them. My dad is a general contractor in Schulenburg and my mom is a high school English teacher at Rice CISD. My brother Ryan is a Senior Civil Engineering major at the University of Texas. My sister Rachel is a senior at Schulenburg High School. During holidays and weekends, I go home to help my dad with his business, Kalina, Inc. I can't thank him enough for forcing me to start working for him during high school. This opportunity has taught me so much about running a business and overall work ethics. I have been working for him for about ten years and he is just a little disappointed that I will be joining the "real world" very shortly.
I am a third year graduate student. I received my Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in May 2004. I majored in Horticulture and minored in General Business. I love working with plants and being outdoors whenever I can.
I have two Jack Russell Terriers, Bayla
and Rylie. I consider them my children and they are spoiled
rotten.
Rylie
During my undergraduate degree, I was a member of Sigma Alpha Sorority, a professional sorority promoting women in Agriculture. After graduating, I wanted to stay involved with the organization, so I became a member of the Stephen F. Austin Alumni Chapter, where I hold the office of Collegiate/Alumni Liaison, as well as a member of the National Alumni Association. In October 2005, at the National Convention in Denver, CO, I was elected to serve as the National Alumni Association Secretary. I am also on the 2006 National Convention Committee.
